The AJC Decatur Book Festival

What: Book festival with many addresses specially for emerging and small press writers
When: September 2 – 4, 2016
Where: downtown Decatur, Georgia, many venues

Why: Choose from addresses by scores of people in the field, including 45 from The Emerging Writers Stage, targeted to the self-published author and writers from small presses.

Take part in a tribute to bestselling author Pat Conroy, a noted figure in Southern literature and attend addresses by names in the industry:

  • Cassandra King Conroy, Conroy’s wife who is the author of five novels, most recently the critically acclaimed Moonrise.
  • The Pulitzer Prize-winning Rick Bragg, whose All Over but the Shouting’ was a New York Times bestseller and a Times’ notable book of the year.
  • Noted artist and children’s author Melissa Conroy, Pat’s daughter.
  • Award-winning and bestselling novelist Ron Rash, author of the 2009 PEN/Faulkner Finalist novel Serena.
  • Award-winning journalist and family friend Bronwen Dickey, author of Pit Bull: The Battle Over an American Icon.

Touted as the largest independent book festival in the country.
